IT IS SAID, that the Starstems were born on a night where a great meteor shower fell across Bloomwood. Where fragments fell, a stem sprouted but it was not a flower that grew, nor a leaf but an ear tipped with starlight.
They are bridges between earth and sky. Children of our world, are taught to make wishes on fallen stars but it is the starstem that listen. They gather the magic in their tufty little ears and carry it through the Mothways to the legendary Starlatch Doors, sending each wish skyward to the waiting stars above.
They have varying numbers of tear like beads under their eyes that represents some of the heavier wishes they have carried too heavily. Sometimes they will weep them into the soil, planting hopes for others to grow (more on that in another species!)
If you manage to happen upon a starstem bead, tuck it into moss and sing it a lullaby. It will help even the hardest wishes come true.
——
The Mothways are silent rivers of air that weave through the night sky. Unseen by mortal eyes, only the Mothen and those born of starlight can sense them; a soft and twinkling current that guides the Starstem as they carry wishes and dreams between worlds.
The Starlatch doors are ancient gateways between worlds. They are hidden from all except the Starstem.
